将旅游照片发布在地图上

照片的EXIF信息可以记录这张照片的拍摄地点,然后可以在地图/卫星地图上看到自己照片的拍摄地点,这叫做Geotagging。这很酷?很傻?还是很无聊?@_@

把心得记录一下,为和我同样无聊研究Geotagging的人节省一些时间。

  • 最理想的方案是比较高级的单反相机如D300+专用的GPS设备,这样可以直接把GPS信息写在照片里。
  • Iphone或N95之类的手机也可以直接将GPS信息写在照片中。

OK我没有以上设备,只有分别记录轨迹和照片,最后在进行匹配。

这种Geotagging要解决一下三个问题:

1、GPS轨迹记录:

  • 我用的是廉价的方案LD-3W作为GPS接收器,用蓝牙和N73连接,使用GPSToy(S60V3版)记录轨迹;
  • GPSToy功耗很小,配合N73使用一天(>8H)还有大部分电量,应该可以记录2天没有问题;
  • GPSToy PC版可以将轨迹转换为常用的GPX格式,供其它软件使用;
  • 有条件的话使用Garmin的GPS会更方便,直接记录GPX格式的轨迹。

2、将GPS信息写入照片:

  • GpicSync可以正常使用,完全符合我的要求;
  • Picasa可以使用Google earth进行手工定位,并写入EXIF;
  • GeoSetter无法正确识别GPSToy生成的GPX文件,可能是其中有中文字符的缘故;
  • PhotoMapper读取JPG会出现Runtime error,怀疑是中文使用环境的缘故;

3、将照片发布在地图上:

  • Flickr——我选用的方案——可以直接读取照片EXIF中的GPS信息并发布在地图上,但是地图以及卫星地图信息不够详细,要是Flickr被google收购就完美了;
  • Picasaweb速度很快,但无法正确读取EXIF中的GPS信息;
  • Panoramio可以直接读取EXIF中的GPS信息,并能够在Google earth/map上直接查询,国内访问速度也不错。听上去很完美,但是不支持批量上传,而且我不熟悉。

最后,Flickr上有一个geotagging讨论组,可以查到一些有用的信息。

再次坚信,未来的相机、手机上集成GPS设备将是趋势。

关于D80突然丢失电量的故障

在新疆旅行途中发生了好几次使用过程中突然误报电量不足的情况,需要重启机器才能正常拍摄,一直耿耿于怀。

浏览flickr的时候发现许多国外用户也遇到了同样的问题,最后的结论是镜头与机身的接触不良的问题,解决方法是重新安装镜头。

回家的第二天我已经拆卸并重新安装了镜头 ,希望这个问题不要再出现了。

Some people there mention that removing the battery stopped working as a fix at some point.
One advice is to remove the lens and put it back. I have read in one of the posts that a false contact could lead to a powersurge then triggering the low battery signal…
I had this issue a few days after I got my D80+18-200VR. As I also had hot pixel issues I have just exchange the body and never had this issue again.
I thank the web for the knowledge sharing, I would never have thought that a battery symptom could have come from a lens mount issue!
One important point is that they also pinpoint in that thread that this is really a very rare issue. But an annoying one if you don’t know how to fix it and you are on an assigment or in vacation without an internet access to help you!

关于D80矩阵测光

矩阵测光到底是如何工作的?在矩阵测光的情况下该如何曝光补偿?矩阵测光是一个能够猜测摄影意图用来point & shoot 的傻瓜模式么?很多人(包括KenRockwell)都提到D80的矩阵测光有过暴倾向,到底是否真是这样?

今天读到一篇文章对这个问题有了些详细的分析。

作者做了一个实验,以18%灰度板为背景,以纯白、纯黑、以及18%灰做前景,用矩阵测光的模式分别拍摄三张照片。结果是纯白前景的照片曝光不够,灰度前景的照片曝光正确,纯黑前景的照片过暴。结论是D80的矩阵测光模式加强了中心部位(我理解是聚焦点)的权重,保证中心部位按照18%的灰度进行曝光。这样的话在拍摄深色主体时会得到过暴的结果。原文引用如下:

Exposure
Good news, bad news, folks. Let’s start with the bad news, since there are plenty of contentious threads across the Nikon forums on the Internet talking about the issue: the matrix meter is more sensitive to what’s going on in the central area.

Say what? That’s bad news? Yes, it is for those of you who’ve shot with the D70, D100, D200, D1 series, D2 series, or any of the Nikon film bodies. That’s because all those other bodies are remarkably good at not being coerced into changing exposure based upon smallish non-middle gray things in the central area of the frame. The D50 was prone to changing exposure in those situations, and the D80 is even more prone to changing exposure due to middle subject tonal value. If you’re not following me, try the following: cut a diamond shape (like the AF sensor pattern) out of white paper, middle gray paper, and black paper. (I’m having you use a diamond shape so that you’ll frame them the same.) Now place each of those against a middle gray background, carefully framing so that the diamond exactly fits the AF sensor pattern. Voila: the gray background is underexposed with the white diamond in the center, properly exposed with the gray diamond in the center, and overexposed with the black diamond in the center. It’s that last one that’s problematic, in my mind. Overexposure means blown highlights that can’t be recovered, and the D80 is going to be prone to do just that with the matrix metering system any time you’ve got darker-than-middle-gray subjects in the center of the frame. Photo of the bride only? A little underexposed but easily savable. Photo of the groom only? Overexposed and not savable. Oops.

我感觉作者的实验可能不够严禁, 在这种实验情况下任何一个相机,任何一种测光模式都会得到同样的结果(白色欠暴、黑色过暴、18%灰色曝光正常)。但是结论可能是正确的,也就是说,D80的矩阵测光试图最大限度地保证主题根据18%灰度进行曝光。那么在使用矩阵测光时,简单地根据聚焦的主体按照白加黑减的原则进行曝光补偿。

需要做以下测试:

  • 在背景、前景亮度一定的情况下,改变聚焦主体的位置,观察曝光情况;
  • 在前景亮度一定的情况下改变背景亮度,观察曝光情况;
  • 在背景、前景亮度一定的情况下改变前景大小,观察曝光情况。
